Welcome and thank you for your interest in Windsor Academy! We are Graham and Cheryl, and we are excited to share our journey with you as we bring the BTEC program to Santa Clarita. Having seen the transformative impact of this program in the UK, we are passionate about offering students here the same unique opportunities that made such a difference in the lives of our own children.
At our private school in England, we witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of the BTEC program as our own children entered their final two years of high school. They had the opportunity to select a specialized area of study, with one choosing media and the other animal science—two entirely different fields. Instead of traditional math, science, English, and history courses, the BTEC program integrated these subjects where applicable to their chosen field, allowing them to focus on their area of interest while gaining valuable work experience.
Both of our children completed their BTECs, and we saw how the program opened doors to real-world job experience through partnerships with local businesses. Upon completing their qualifications, they were accepted into their desired universities. Unlike their peers, they entered university with a strong foundation in their major, allowing them to get so much more out of their college experience. Our younger child is currently pursuing veterinary science, while our older child has graduated with honors and is working at a top media company in Los Angeles.
When we moved to the U.S. for our children’s university studies, we were surprised to find that there was no equivalent BTEC offering here. While there are career and technical courses for high school students in the U.S., they are often in addition to the regular course load, which can make it unrealistic for students who are also involved in sports or other activities to pursue all their passions while reaching their full potential.
In 2019, we began planning our move to the U.S. and researching how to bring the BTEC program to American families. Although we experienced a short delay due to COVID, we officially began pursuing this plan in 2022. Now, in Santa Clarita, we are thrilled to launch our first year of the BTEC program, starting with a focus on business. We have plans to expand in the future to include BTECs in media, IT, sports, and other areas, allowing students here to experience the same transformative education that made such a difference for our own family.
Thank you again for visiting our site, and we hope you find the information here helpful as you explore what the BTEC program can offer for your child’s future. We look forward to the opportunity to support your family on this educational journey!
